Information, not an award

How to use our research, what a charity application actually involves, and which costs remain the applicant's responsibility.
Nothing on the site creates an application, waiting-list position or right to a vehicle.
Title, tags, insurance and repairs may still apply when a vehicle is donated.
You may adapt our hardship and referral-letter drafts for lawful personal educational use.
Our articles and tools help readers research charity cars, local transportation assistance, VA benefits, repairs and state incentives. These are informational resources. Each outside program controls its own eligibility, funding, stock, service area and application process. Read the official provider's terms and confirm every cost before you make a commitment.
ApplyFreeCar.com is an independent vehicle-assistance research website operated by CivicMobility Assistance Media LLC, 1201 N Market St, Suite 111-M, Wilmington, DE 19801, USA. These Terms and Conditions govern your use of our published pages, free research tools, downloadable educational letters, internal search and contact channels.
By using this website, you agree to use its resources lawfully and understand the limits described here. If you do not agree, please stop using the website. Important protections under applicable consumer or privacy law are not waived by these terms.
These terms do not create an attorney-client relationship, fiduciary relationship, government benefit application, applicant-provider relationship, contract to deliver a car or other professional advisory engagement.
Our content describes publicly available programs, laws and application practices. It is not an official eligibility determination, legal advice, government notice or endorsement of a particular charity, lender, seller or product. Benefits, charities and state vehicle incentives can change without notice.
We cannot confirm that every nonprofit currently accepts applications, has an available vehicle or operates in a reader's ZIP code. An example income threshold, benefit rule or historic funding level on a page is not a promise of current entitlement.
Before relying on a listing, review the official provider website, call its published intake desk and ask about available funding, service area, required referral and the complete written terms. Use our application preparation page as a starting point, not as a substitute for a provider's own process.
Nonprofit vehicles typically depend on donations, mechanical condition, repairs, staffing and local distribution rules. Inventory is not constant. A charity may temporarily stop accepting applications, maintain a long waiting list, limit awards to specific counties or require a caseworker recommendation.
Being eligible to apply does not mean that you have been approved or selected. We do not know your place on a provider's waitlist, and we cannot move you ahead or reserve a car. No specific vehicle make, model, year, value, mileage, warranty, delivery date or processing time is guaranteed by us.
Some organizations that accept vehicle donations sell them at auction to raise funds. That is different from awarding a vehicle to an applicant. Confirm that the program actually provides cars to qualifying recipients before submitting personal details.
A program may describe a vehicle as donated or “free,” yet legal ownership can involve costs. These may include DMV title transfer, registration or tags, taxes, emissions or safety inspection, mandatory auto insurance, fuel, maintenance, towing and repairs. Requirements differ by state, vehicle, provider and individual circumstances.
Our general vehicle-cost examples use $0 to $950 as a broad preparation range for certain upfront vehicle-related expenses. It is an illustrative planning range, not a universal fee, guaranteed maximum, quote or amount charged by ApplyFreeCar.com. Some applicants will pay less, and others may face higher costs or ongoing expenses.
Ask for the vehicle identification number, current title status, any liens, inspection or repair history, insurance requirements, written transfer terms and an itemized list of amounts payable to the responsible agency or program.
Charities may evaluate household need, employment, training, disability-related transport barriers, driver's license status, safe driving, insurance ability, residence or caseworker referrals. Government benefit and vocational rehabilitation programs apply their own statutory and administrative tests.
You are responsible for providing accurate information to the actual program, obtaining permission before sending another person's records, following provider deadlines and reading any eligibility notice. Do not misrepresent income, household composition, employment, military service, medical restrictions or a caseworker's approval.
We do not conduct official identity verification and do not need your full driver's license number, Social Security number or EBT PIN. Do not include such identifiers in a general editorial inquiry.
There is no universal federal program that provides every low-income applicant with a free government car. TANF transportation support, workforce training assistance, state clean-air replacement programs and Department of Veterans Affairs automobile benefits are different programs with distinct purposes and eligibility rules.
Statutory references such as 45 CFR § 260.31 and 38 U.S.C. § 3902 provide context but do not establish that a particular local benefit is open or payable to any reader. The official administering program, agency or caseworker decides applications and funding. Federal or state incentive amounts may expire, change or require purchase, tax or financing conditions.
See our government and state vehicle assistance coverage for program distinctions and verification steps.
Some vehicle-assistance options are loans or discounted purchase programs rather than grants. A Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) or other lender may require underwriting, repayments, fees, insurance and other contractual terms. A vehicle voucher or tax credit may also depend on funding, qualifying transactions and applicable law.
ApplyFreeCar.com is not a lender, broker, insurer, tax preparer or financial adviser, and does not offer loan approval or guaranteed terms. Our comparisons are informational and do not replace a full lender disclosure, a reliable vehicle inspection or advice from a qualified professional.
Compare annual percentage rate, total payments, fees, vehicle condition, recurring operating costs and the impact on your household budget before agreeing to a transaction.
We grant individual visitors a nonexclusive, royalty-free license to copy, adapt, download, print and use the site's hardship narratives and referral-request letter templates for lawful, personal, noncommercial educational and application-preparation purposes.
You may rewrite a draft to reflect your real circumstances or share it with your own adviser or authorized caseworker. Do not misrepresent a draft as a signed agency document, counterfeit approval, official VA form, proof of eligibility or statement issued by an actual professional who has not reviewed it.
This limited permission does not authorize resale of the complete templates as a competing product, removal of ownership notices from unrelated original site content, automated mass redistribution or misleading use of the site's name or logo. The license does not apply to third-party images, brands or official documents linked elsewhere.
Links may lead to agency websites, charities, donation platforms, insurers, vehicle programs or other outside providers. Those organizations independently set their eligibility criteria, fees, data collection practices, availability and legal terms.
We do not control external pages, their security, accuracy, accessibility or commercial activity. A link, name, quoted rule or nonprofit logo does not mean that the organization sponsors, operates or approves ApplyFreeCar.com. Trademarks and service marks belong to their respective owners.
Always confirm the browser address, look for official sources and read the receiving organization's privacy policy before giving personal information or making a payment.
Do not use the site to send fraudulent inquiries, harass our staff, upload malware, impersonate a charity or caseworker, collect other people's private data, circumvent technical safeguards, or interfere with access for other readers. Do not use educational templates to forge government or nonprofit documents.
We may limit access to abusive automated traffic or submissions where lawful. Search, calculators, downloads and email features may change, be interrupted or be temporarily unavailable for maintenance or security reasons. The contact endpoint, in particular, requires a properly configured hosting and email service and may not work in a local preview.
We do not charge a site application fee and do not accept payment details through the contact form.
We aim to publish clear, well-sourced guidance, but we cannot promise that every description remains current, complete, available or suitable for a particular household. Published information is provided on an “as available” and informational basis to the extent permitted by law.
We are not responsible for independent charity selection decisions, government benefits determinations, lender approvals, vehicle mechanical condition, insurance claims, transportation incidents or third-party website behavior. Nothing here excludes or limits rights or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
For consequential decisions, obtain current written terms from the provider and seek qualified legal, financial, tax, mechanical or VA-accredited assistance as appropriate.
We may revise content and these terms as programs, platform functionality or law change. Material revisions should be dated and posted on this page. The dates above describe our policy archive and revision record; they do not mean a past program remains active today.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, govern disputes concerning website use, without overriding non-waivable consumer protections or other law that must apply. Any particular court or dispute process must be determined in accordance with applicable law; this paragraph does not create an exclusive forum or waive statutory remedies.
If a provision cannot be enforced, the remaining provisions continue as far as legally permitted.
